Typically, the entire ‘visa processing’ phase can take around 18 to 24 months. Generally, the application fee is around 6300 AUD which is subject to change. It is crucial to check with the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs to stay updated on the visa processing duration and fees.
Subclass 189 (Skilled Independent—Permanent)

If your nominated occupation only appears on the STSOL or you do not match the requirements for a skilled independent visa, skilled nominated visas provide a route to Australia. You need to submit the application via the Department of Home Affairs’ (DHA) online visa application system: Skill-Select. Following a successful skills evaluation from an Australian evaluating body and by submitting an EOI, you can get points for the reasons that follow Expressions of Interest (EOI):

Modifications to the points test as of November 16, 2019
On November 16, 2019, modifications to the points test will allow applicants to earn extra points in order to meet their point goal. These points include:
- A Master’s or PhD degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics is worth 10 points
- Candidates without a partner receive 5 points
- Candidates with a partner who has language proficiency only will receive 5 points
- Candidates with a partner under 45 who has a positive skills assessment in an occupation on the skills list and competent English receive 10 points

SKILLED VISA WORKING SUBCLASS -491
With comparable features to the subclass 489 visa, the new subclass 491 came into effect on November 16, 2019.

PARTNER VISA (SUBCLASS 820 AND 801)
You can reside in Australia with a temporary partner visa (subclass 820) if you are the spouse or de facto partner of:
- A citizen of Australia
- A permanent resident of Australia
- A citizen of New Zealand who qualifies.
The initial step towards obtaining a permanent Partner visa (subclass 801) is the temporary Partner visa (subclass 820). Both when you apply and when the decision on this visa is made, you must be in Australia.
For both your temporary and permanent visas, you submit a single application and pay a single application fee. Two steps, separated by around two years, are involved in processing your application.

Partner (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 309) and Partner (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 100)

People who are the spouse or de facto partner of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen are eligible for the Partner (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 309).
